More than 100 families live in the remote Sri Lankan Village of Walallgoda. They have failed in all attempts to obtain clean water for their basic needs, such as sanitation and cooking. This has resulted in them walking via a small, steep footpath to a well which is situated far away from the village. After pulling water from the well they climb back up the 450 foot hill carrying the buckets of water back to the village. In partnership with a local Rotary Club, the Wauwatosa Mayfair Rotary aims to construct a pipeline to pump water from the current well to new pump house and water tank, and then distribute water to the village. |
